The 8th IAI Design Award Ceremony and IAI Design Award Exhibition held by Asia Pacific Designers Federation (APDF) had a grand opening on April 29th,2015 at the Bird's Nest Culture Center in Beijing. Plenty of celebrated designers and worldwide professionals participated this ceremony, including Liu Yanshen, Honorary President of APDF and Deputy Director of the National Secondary Vocational Education Teaching Reform and Innovation Committee, and Antony Chan (Hong Kong, China), Member of the IAI Design Award Jury, Chairman of Hong Kong Interior Design Association, and the Founder and Creative Director of CREAM.
IAI Design Award was established in 2006. It has been developed from a successful holding of the Asia Pacific Design Biennial Awards Asia Pacific Interior Design Elite Tournaments and Bamboo Beauty Award for the last seven years, which is held by the Asia Pacific Designers Federation. The host hopes to excavate social innovative ideas in the fields of design, promote the reward widely, take efforts to improve the value of design and make its foothold in society.
IAI Design Award has grown into an internationally renowned event nowadays. It aims to motivate designers' creativity and innovation.

Introduction of the Prize-winning Project
China Resources Shimei Bay International Marina Club is located in central Shimei Bay of Hainan. byal is the architectural & signage design consultant. China Resources Company aims to create a landmark in this region. The 3400㎡ marina club will be the major attraction of Hainan.
The design inspiration is a pair of orca whales leaping out from the water and charging towards the ocean. It symbolizes the sailing of the yachts. The roof top design is flowing, echoing the silhouette of the waves. It is set in a vertical axis and links the natural landscape with the building. The marina club blends seamlessly into the environment. The elevated open space between the pair of orca whales is the ideal location to enjoy the spectacular view of the natural scenery.
The natural environment serves as the canvas of the beautifully designed buildings. Appreciating the view from a sailing yacht is a memorable experience.
